La ''William Carter Company'' nasce nel 1858 come produttore di inchiostri, settore di cui diviene leader mondiale alla fine dell'800; verso la metà degli anni '20 fece ingresso sul mercato delle penne stilografiche, allora in pieno sviluppo.
