Il periodo della seconda guerra mondiale fu critico, come per tutti i produttori europei; l'uso dell'oro fu vietato in molti paesi, e la [[celluloide]] iniziava a scarseggiare. L'azienda cercò comunque di mantenere alta la qualità, pur dovendo ricorrere a pennini in acciaio. Intorno al [[1943]] venne introdotto il modello [[Excelsior de Bayard|Excelsior]]; questo era molto simile alla [[Superstyl]], ma con un pennino d'acciaio e marchiato ''Excelsior''.
